Why a combination of Acupuncture and Specific Low Level Laser Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) can be so beneficial for couples with fertility issues.

Leading Canadian fertility research supports that an integrative approach to fertility using Acupuncture and Photobiomodulation can significantly increase a couples chances of successfully getting pregnant where previously IVF may have been the only option. This approach will also support those having IVF treatment. The advancement of Photobiomodulation and the understanding of how it positively improves fertility related issues is an exciting development.

Every couple is unique, and that is why an integrative holistic approach helps to overcome the unique problems that are preventing conception. Tyack Health is an Integrative practice so can support couples with the right combination or treatments for their specific needs. This might include fertility Acupuncture, Photobiomodulation, fertility focused Nutritionist/Naturopath and Remedial Massage. You will be individually treated and guided to enhance your chance of a successful conception and pregnancy.

Acupuncture for infertility

Acupuncture for infertility focuses on “normalising” and “harmonising” the body to bring into balance all parts and functions of the body that are associated with male and female infertility. Acupuncture manipulates the Chi to strengthen and support the body, its vital fluids (including blood) and internal organs including reproductive organs.

Women often present with signs of physical and emotional depletion and have constrained energy that causes blockages, particularly in the pelvis. These blockages are commonly reported as a history of painful menstrual cramps, endometriosis, fibroid tumours, PMS symptoms, irregular cycles, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) or similar. With many women leaving starting a family till later in life these conditions can deteriorate thus effecting different parts of the reproductive cycle.

Acupuncture treatment

There is a body of evidence to support Acupuncture as an effective stand alone or complementary treatment for infertility. Acupuncture helps to improve blood supply to the reproductive organs and to stabilize hormones. It also helps release endorphins in the brain to help the patient relax. This is especially useful because stress is one of the most important factors to mitigate in helping couples conceive.

Studies have also shown that Acupuncture used as a complementary therapy for women undergoing fertility treatments improves outcomes.

Men are negatively impacted by stress, nutritional imbalances, and environmental factors. Research supports Acupuncture can help increase sperm count and motility in men.

Combining fertility focused Acupuncture with Photobiomodulation therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) otherwise referred to as Photobiomodulation therapy utilises non-ionizing electromagnetic energy to trigger photochemical changes within cells in the body. Mitochondria is particularly receptive to this process. At the cellular level, visible red and near infrared light (NIR) energy are absorbed by mitochondria, which perform the function of producing cellular energy called “ATP” for cellular use. In addition, the process creates mild oxidants (ROS), which leads to gene transcription and then to cellular repair and healing. The process also unclogs the chain that has been clogged by nitric oxide (NO).[1] The nitric oxide is then released back into the system. Nitric oxide is a molecule that our body produces to help its 50 trillion cells communicate with each other. This communication happens by transmission of signals throughout the entire body. Additionally, nitric oxide helps to dilate the blood vessels and improve blood circulation. – Vielight

“All our cells are powered by little structures called mitochondria. Eggs have about 200 times more mitochondria than any other cell. When eggs are developing, they use a tremendous amount of energy. After 35 years the mitochondria wear down. At age 40, nine out of 10 eggs are abnormal.” Says Brown. ”What is exciting about these studies is that they suggest that Photobiomodulation actually goes to the root cause of ovarian decline and improves mitochondrial function and ATP (energy) production which is necessary for aging ovaries.” – Cision PRWweb

The recent studies in Japan and clinical results in Denmark have delivered very promising results in this direction. The Danish report showed that Photobiomodulation had a pregnancy rate of 66% success for women after at least 4 years of failure with other ART methods. Photobiomodulation studies have also pointed to the efficacy of laser treatment in raising the quality of the male partner’s semen in particular motility.
Similarly, the Japanese studies have shown a connection between improved fertility and Photobiomodulation, concluding that even in low doses, Photobiomodulation can help improve the woman’s chances of conception. Under the direction of Dr Toshio Ohshiro at Sanno Hospital, an extended trial on Photobiomodulation was performed in 701 infertile patients, 156 (22.3%) of whom became pregnant.   This resulted in a successful live birth rate in over half (50.1%) of those pregnancies.- ifsymposium

Combining fertility focused Acupuncture with Photobiomodulation therapy has been shown to dramatically increase a woman’s chances of natural conception. This Canadian fertility clinic use the same combination of acupuncture and Photobiomodulation as used by Tyack Health and have published their significant findings.
